Manager, Strategy and Development
A proud South Sider, Destiny B. Ortega is the newest member of the Communications and Public Affairs team. In her role, Destiny is responsible for developing and executing on our fundraising strategy.
Destiny joined The Fund as a Program Associate after serving as a fellow with Leadership for Educational Equity. In that role, she supported the Program team’s research and evaluation work. Prior to The Fund, Destiny served as a middle school teacher in West Englewood through Teach For America.
Destiny received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University with certificates in Urban and Latino Studies. During her time as a teacher, she simultaneously received her Master of Arts in Teaching from Dominican University. She is a highly involved alum of Saint Ignatius College Prep and Princeton University, as well as a proud product of the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Foundation and Chicago Scholars programs.
Currently, Destiny resides in Pilsen and enjoys reading, traveling and exploring Chicago neighborhoods.
