Hiliana León is the principal of Albany Park Multicultural Academy, a neighborhood junior high school in one of the most diverse areas of Chicago. She began her teaching career in Little Village as a second grade bilingual teacher and since then taught students in grades kindergarten through eight grades and served as the assistant principal for two years.
Hiliana earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in Education, a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership and a Masters of Arts in Instructional Technology. Her experience and educational background has shaped her vision for teaching and learning. As an immigrant and bilingual learner, she builds a school culture where all students are valued and provided a high quality education. She believes that building strong partnerships with teachers, students, parents and the community is at the center of school success.
Hiliana believes that becoming a stronger leader involves continued professional growth and learning. By joining the EAC, she has the opportunity to collaborate with other outstanding leaders in the field. She always urges her staff to continue their self-growth and wants to model the same.
