About James Parsons

James Parsons is President of the Brinson Foundation. The Foundation is a privately funded philanthropic organization that focuses on encouraging personal initiative, advancing individual freedoms and liberties and positively contributing to society in the areas of education and scientific research. Previously, James was a Managing Partner at Gardner, Carton & Douglas (now Drinker, Biddle & Reath).

James is passionate about education, science and technology. He is the immediate past Chair and former member of the Board of Directors for Donors Forum, a membership association of grantmakers, nonprofits and advisors that serves its constituents by promoting an effective and informed philanthropic and nonprofit sector. He is a Board Member for the King Bruwaert House and a member of the Board of Advisors for The Morton Arboretum.  James is also a Life Trustee for The Community House, a social services agency that provides quality recreation and affordable social services for all ages. He is a Member of the Illinois Attorney General’s Charitable Advisory Council, as well as a Member of the Community Partner Board for the Chicago Collaborative for Undergraduate Success.

James received his JD from the University of Chicago and his BA in History from Denison University.
