Kerry Leuschel is an Assistant Principal at George Westinghouse College Prep (GWCP), a selective-enrollment high school in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. She firmly believes that all students should be exposed to a rigorous college preparatory education to prepare them for post-secondary success after high school. While at Westinghouse, she developed strong teacher-leadership teams that directly support teacher development to improve student learning.
Prior to her role at Westinghouse, Kerry was a math teacher at Simeon Career Academy (Simeon) for five years. While at Simeon, she was able to see the school transform from solely an athletics-focused environment to a college prep school for students on the South Side of Chicago. A highly effective administrative team enabled this change, showing her need for strong leadership in every CPS school.
Kerry joined the EAC to discuss the importance of strong leaders and how to retain them within CPS.
