Elana is joining us for the summer as a Data and Policy Fellow. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Elana saw the achievement gap in her community and the role education plays in maintaining inequality. Since then education has been a cause of great importance to her and throughout high school and college, she has worked with various non-profit organizations focused on individual tutoring and mitigating the summer learning loss for under-resourced students.
This past fall, Elana transferred to the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University. The process of transferring solidified her interests in the intersection of public policy and social issues as she pursues her degree in Economics and Social Policy. This summer, Elana is eager to engage with her new community in Chicago and apply the policy and analysis skills she has strengthened this year to a cause she is passionate about.
