Principal Pathways and Fellows

Amount: $400,000

Fund: 3

2007-2009

The Fund supported the development of Pathways to Leadership, a Chicago Public Schools (CPS) initiative dedicated to identifying potential new principals from within the current CPS workforce.  In particular, the program matched high-potential participants into principal preparation programs, principal positions and assistant principal positions. Finally, the program sought to establish consistent school leadership expectations throughout CPS. To address this goal, top CPS school leaders attended a two-day summer fellowship at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Impact

  • While the program is no longer active, the lessons learned continue to influence CPS and partner organizations.
  • The investment also contributed to the development of the Chicago Leadership Collaborative.
