The Fund Launches Annual Principal Engagement Survey

Today, The Chicago Public Education Fund (The Fund) invited all of Chicago’s public school principals to participate in its fifth annual Principal Engagement Survey. The survey will continue to track important metrics about principal satisfaction, professional development and retention for the 2017-18 school year. The Fund is continuing its partnership with the National Business Research Institute, Inc. (NBRI) to administer the survey. “Chicago students are improving faster than their peers across the country, and one major reason is the tireless work of our school leaders. A recent UChicago Consortium on School Research report indicated principals are essential for building school culture and leading instructional leadership in schools,” said Heather Y. Anichini, Chief Executive Officer of The Fund. “This survey provides the kind of direct feedback that shapes existing program and policy improvements and drives new initiative development. Principal voice is essential for effective policymaking.” Last year, 78 percent of Chicago’s principals participated in the survey. The Chicago Principal Partnership, a cross-sector collaborative dedicated to attracting, supporting and keeping great principals citywide, released the results on ChicagoPrincipals.org. The survey’s release provided the public with more information on the Chicago principal experience and compared principal responses by school type, principal tenure and grade level served. This fall, The Fund will release the survey results on ChicagoPrincipals.org in coordination with the 2018 Principal Pride Campaign.
