CHICAGO, January 11, 2021 – Today, The Chicago Public Education Fund (The Fund) announced the election of Andrea Sáenz to its Board of Directors. Sáenz is the chief operating officer at The Chicago Community Trust and a longtime leader in Chicago’s civic and education communities.
Sáenz joins a Board composed of corporate, civic and education leaders dedicated to creating equitable outcomes for Chicago public school students. She brings with her valuable experience in reimagining how public institutions and systems can better support communities.
“In my career, I have been fortunate enough to serve students and learners of all ages across Chicago and across the country,” Sáenz said. “I am excited to continue that work through my service on The Fund’s Board. I have seen first-hand the impact strong school leadership can have on student outcomes, and I firmly believe The Fund’s work can have a transformative impact on the city’s public schools.”
As the COO of The Chicago Community Trust, Sáenz supports a 90-person staff to award more than $360 million annually to local community organizations. She joined the Trust from the Chicago Public Library where she served as first deputy commissioner and chief strategy officer.
