Lauren Albani is entering her fourth year as the principal of LaSalle II Magnet Elementary School (LaSalle II), a world language academy with a mission to educate students about other cultures and teach them to communicate in critical languages spoken around the world. Under Lauren’s leadership, the school achieved Level 1+ status on the district’s School Quality Rating Policy during the 2014-15 school year and consistently maintained its top performance ever since. She is proud of LaSalle II’s strong school community and culture, where teachers and parents work in partnership to provide a high-quality education to all students.
In the upcoming school year, Lauren plans to implement a scaffold approach across all grade levels for students to increase their academic independence and accountability. She will work closely with grade level instructional teams and hopes to engage parents as well to support the goal of student accountability and ownership.
Prior to her principal role, Lauren worked as a teacher in the KIPP Charter School Network and in Chicago Public Schools through Teach for America. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas, a master’s degree in teaching from Dominican University and her doctorate degree in education from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
