October is National Principal Appreciation Month!

To celebrate, The Fund organizes a citywide campaign designed to lift up our principals. 2018 marks the third year of our Principal Pride Campaign, and we are SO excited to lift up the great work of our hardworking school leaders. Below you can find out more and sign up to help!

Why celebrate principals? Principals are key to student achievement and school improvement. Chicago’s public school principals oversee more than 600 schools and touch the lives of over 371,000 students in the third-largest school district in the country.

Keeping great principals is one of Chicago’s education priorities, and acknowledging the hard work principals do each day is one small way we can thank them for all their hard work.

You can help principals in three easy ways:

1. Thank your local principal with a short note on social media.

2. Post a thank you video or photo on social media using our handy social media toolkit – don’t forget to use #PrincipalPrideChi!

3. Write a thank you note, have your kids draw a picture or drop off a small token of appreciation.

If you’re a nonprofit organization interested in celebrating principals, fill out this form to share how you can partner with us. Local School Council members, please click here to share how you’ll celebrate your principal.

For a reminder of why all this matters, check out Principal Alene Mason below who shares her vision of the principalship at Scott Joplin Elementary as a ministry.
