Folasade U. Adekunle

Principal at Sayre Language Academy.

I believe in the transformative power of a quality education. My mission is to support and develop strong
teachers who in turn develop strong students.

I am proud to serve the community of Galewood as principal of Sayre Language Academy. These past 3 years have been an amazing journey into leadership and collaboration only made possible by the strength
and willingness of a dynamic group that is the Sayre parents, students faculty and staff.
Prior to my role as principal, I was a resident principal at Walt Disney Magnet School. There, I supported 2nd-8th grade teachers in strengthening their instructional capacity through robust data analysis protocols and improved professional learning systems. I also worked with parents to strengthen the connection between home and school.

From 2013 to 2015, I worked as a literacy coach for the AUSL Network. I provided classroom management and instructional support for 1st and 2nd year teachers. I provided data-driven feedback to teachers. I
developed network support for implementation of NGSS and Common Core Standards. My work with teachers resulted in growth in teacher practice evidenced by improved ratings on their REACH evaluations.
Teachers implemented data driven instruction which led to student growth on assessments.

Prior to my residency, as a classroom teacher at Northwest Middle School, I was a member of the Instructional Leadership Team from 2011-2013. I participated in the creation of our school’s CIWP and
contributed to setting instructional goals for our students. From this work, we conducted grade level walks where we identified areas of instructional focus and collected data to improve teacher practice.
