Tiffany Tillman is the principal of Genevieve Melody STEM School (Melody) located in West Garfield Park. Throughout her tenure, Tiffany served on Chicago Police Department CAPS team and was recognized for fostering positive relationships between community police, parents and students in the 11th District.
Tiffany became a principal to ensure that “failure is not an option” for students. She believes that too often adults neglect the students whom misbehave, struggle in their academics or give up on themselves. Tiffany wants to work with these students to provide academic rigor and a safe, nurturing and loving environment.
As a third generation educator with Chicago Public Schools (CPS), Tiffany grew up creating bulletin boards, playing school with childhood friends, and watching her granny grade papers each evening . Her family also ingrained powerful mantras, and one in particular has remained with her throughout her career: “Education is bought, taught and caught,” and that is the one thing that not a single person can take away from you.
When Tiffany became a principal, she knew the importance of great leadership. However, a real leader builds, believes and encourages other leaders. She believes in the CPS vision and wants to continue growing and giving back by collaborating with innovative and supportive Chicago principals.
