Turan Crockett


Principal at Howe Elementary School

Turan C. Crockett is the principal of Howe Elementary School, located on Chicago’s West Side. Turan is a product of Chicago Public Schools as a student from Kindergarten-12th grade, special education teacher for five years, resident principal via the Chicago Leadership Collaborative for one year and now entering his second year as principal of Howe Elementary.

Turan is currently pursuing his doctoral degree at UIC in their Urban Education School Leadership program. Turan has been steadfast in identifying resources within the neighborhood that provide academic, SEL and enrichment support for students and families. He has formed sustainable and working partnerships with Northeastern Illinois University Beyond the Bell program, By The Hand Club, SGA Youth & Family Services, Bethal Chicago, and Buddha Belly Kids Yoga. Turan is working toward ensuring that Howe is a school of choice for all students throughout the city of Chicago.
