Brooke Carrell

Assistant Provost and Executive Director, UChicagoGRAD Experience

Brooke Carrell is Assistant Provost and Executive Director of UChicagoGRAD Experience. In this role, she co-leads the office that provides supportive services to current and prospective graduate students, graduate alumni, and postdocs across the University’s academic divisions and professional schools. She oversees teams who develop and implement pioneering programming related to career development and employer relations; fellowships and writing; graduate student life; and public speaking and networking. Brooke also oversees the Graduate Student Lounge and serves as the advisor to Graduate Council.

Brooke’s commitment to working on behalf of UChicago graduate students has spanned more than 25 years, culminating in the UChicagoGRAD office, a national model for supporting graduate students and postdocs. She has presented on UChicago’s innovative approach at numerous conferences and meetings around the world.

Brooke earned her BA in Art History and French at DePauw University, served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mali, West Africa, and completed the Executive Program for Emerging Leaders at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She is currently the Chairperson of the Local School Council for Schurz High School.
