Ted Oppenheimer

Oppenheimer Family Foundation

Ted Oppenheimer is President of the Oppenheimer Family Foundation. The Foundation, established in 1933, has been giving grants to Chicago Public School teachers for the past twenty-six years through its Teacher Incentive Grant (TIG) program. The purpose of our TIG grants is to underwrite the outstanding efforts of CPS teachers who enhance and enrich the educational lives of their students through project-based learning.

His work is grounded in the belief that, in order to make learning more meaningful, students need to experience hands-on learning. Such an approach to learning both excites students and energizes teachers, enabling them to move beyond the traditional curriculum and employ new methods of teaching.

Invest in Chicago's Principals

Principals have an out-sized impact on their schools and communities. Any amount can make a difference.

Support Our Work

We aim to serve more than 600 principals and 360,000 students by 2023, with an emphasis on the schools that most need support.

Celebrate School Leaders

This October, school communities, city officials and corporate leaders will join together to lift up the great work of principals and their APs.
