Ashyra Haynesworth

Ashyra Haynesworth works on The Chicago Principal Partnership team at The Chicago Public Education Fund. In her current role, Ashyra is advancing strategies to support Chicago’s principal pipeline and collaborating within a cross-functional team to execute projects that ensure strong recruitment, development and placement of aspiring school leaders.

Ashyra is a Detroit native and first came to Chicago in 2018 as an Education Pioneers Fellow. As a fellow, Ashyra worked at the Education Systems Center of Northern Illinois University, where she helped build a cohesive statewide data system for postsecondary training programs. In her work, she aspires to make a systemic impact that provides equitable opportunities for children and families.

Ashyra is a proud Wolverine and graduate of The University of Michigan, where she studied economics and entrepreneurship. She is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer and is currently pursuing her master’s in Public Policy and Administration at Northwestern University.

As a new Chicago resident, Ashyra has enjoyed indulging in the amazing variety of food and Broadway shows. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, refueling through yoga or boxing, and winding down with reality television shows.
