Clare DeSio

As the Manager of Strategy and Operations, Clare works to develop and maintain effective strategic and operational systems for The Fund.

Clare grew up in Des Moines, lived in Ames, Denver, and Detroit, and now resides in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University’s Ivy College of Business and a master’s degree from the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy.

Clare has worked in a variety of roles, including as a data analyst, relocation coordinator, marketing coordinator, project manager, server, and field organizer. Most recently, Clare worked with Genesis Youth Foundation to expand access to low or no-cost after school programs in Des Moines, including a soccer program where she served as a coach to middle school and high school students. Her experience working with strong leaders who represent the communities they serve led her to The Fund, where we prioritize leaders who serve and represent communities most directly impacted by structural racism and systematic exclusion.

Outside of work, Clare enjoys exploring the city, playing soccer, talking about Iowa, and finding a good deal.
