Heron Alpern

As an Associate on the Partnership Team, Heron focuses on both nurturing our external relationships through communications and on organizing the ever-growing work of the Partnership Team. They frequently work with the other teams of The Fund, ensuring that all aspects of our work is incorporated into our innovations.

Prior to The Fund, Heron had worked in a number of educational spaces, from spending weekends as a teaching assistant for their synagogue to serving in leadership and instructional roles for a myriad of student organizations ranging from creative writing to queer advocacy. During their undergraduate career, they served as a Teaching Fellow for the Breakthrough Collaborative, supporting underserved students in Miami, FL and helping them develop skills to overcome the education gap. Now having completed their undergraduate degree, they are proud and excited to return to the work of improving public education.

Heron recently graduated from Kenyon College with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing and a minor in Spanish. Outside of work, they enjoy hiking, playing tabletop roleplaying games, and making crafts.
