Lauren Burdette


Lauren Burdette is the director of the Engagement team. In her role, Lauren is responsible for creating and executing the communications and development strategy.

Lauren joined The Fund as a Manager after working as an education policy adviser for the State of Illinois and the United States Senate. She worked on a number of initiatives at both roles, including Every Student Succeeds Act implementation, higher education reform and the Perkins Career and Technical Education Act. Before her foray into policy, she taught 7th grade math and science for three years in Archer Heights.

Lauren received her Master of Public Policy from The University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy and earned her Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. She serves as a coach for One Million Degrees and often volunteers for political campaigns.

Lauren lives in Uptown and loves cooking, reading and running along the lake.
