The Illinois Principal: Their Work, Their Challenges, Their Impact

This new report is a combined effort between The Fund and the Illinois Principals Association (IPA), a statewide membership organization aiming to develop, support, and advocate for innovative educational leaders. Although our approaches and geographic scope differ, IPA and The Fund are united in our effort to foster conditions that allow strong educators to lead their schools effectively. 

The report includes data on Illinois principals, offering insight into their roles and responsibilities. We highlight real leaders to demonstrate their impact and the urgent need for greater decision-making autonomy. We encourage readers to thoughtfully consider changes in policy and practice that empower principals, foster effective leadership, and promote educational equity throughout the state.
