Mariel Laureano
As the Director of Educator Supports, Mariel focuses on successfully designing and refining programmatic support, recruiting and selecting educators, executing new and existing programs, analyzing the impact of programming, and implementing innovative and promising practices.
She has over 23 years of experience in education. She taught across all elementary grade levels in Chicago Public Schools (CPS) for over 10 years and was the founding principal of a neighborhood CPS school for 10 years before transitioning to the charter school sector, first as Deputy Chief of Education followed by two years as the Chief Education Officer.
Mariel completed her bachelor’s of education from Northeastern Illinois University and her master’s in education leadership from the University of Illinois Chicago. She received her principal training through New Leaders.
When she is not working, she is spending time with her family, riding bikes, trying out a new restaurant, or snuggling up with a great book.
