Mariel Laureano

Mariel joins the Fund as Director of Ed Supports where she will focus on successfully designing and refining programmatic support, recruiting and selecting educators, executing new and existing programs, analyzing impact of programming and implementing innovative and promising practices.

She has over 23 years of experience in education. She taught across all elementary grade levels in Chicago Public Schools (CPS) for over 10 years, led a neighborhood CPS school for 10 years before transitioning to the Charter School sector first as Deputy Chief of Education followed by two years as the Chief Education Officer.

Mariel completed her Bachelor’s of Education from Northeastern Illinois University and her Master’s in Ed Leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  She received her principal training through New Leaders.

When she is not working she is spending time with her family, riding bikes, trying out a new restaurant or snuggling up with a great book.
