2020-21 Chicago Principals Overview

Each year, The Fund assembles and shares basic statistics on Chicago’s school leaders – principals and assistant principals. Information on demographics, experience and retention help us and our partners refine and improve our work advancing school leadership through pipeline, in-role support and retention efforts.

This report, Chicago’s School Leaders: 2020-21 Overview, provides a brief snapshot of Chicago’s public schools and the talented educators who lead them. It provides information on the total number of principals in all of Chicago’s public schools and additional data on the principals and assistant principals in Chicago’s district-operated schools, including demographics, position tenure, turnover rates and causes for turnover.
