Barry Tyler

As the Director of Policy and Public Affairs, Barry is responsible for enhancing The Fund’s impact on educational policy and strategy implementation that promotes adequate resources, local control, and aligned accountability within Chicago’s public schools.

Barry has an extensive nonprofit management background and has been recognized for his efforts by being named as a Times Top 20 Under 40 Professional in 2014 and receiving the Community Center Development Corporation Clarence Collins “Keeper of the Dream Award” in 2023. He has also participated in programs such as Leadership for Northwest Indiana, Education Pioneers, and Emerging Leaders. Barry is a graduate of Wabash College and resides in Hammond, Indiana, with his wife, Erin, and twin boys, Barry III and Bryant, and is currently serving in his second term as the 3rd District Councilman for the City of Hammond.
