The Chicago Public Education Fund Welcomes Ellen Alberding to Its Board of Directors

May 8, 2019 – Today, The Chicago Public Education Fund announced the election of Ellen Alberding to its Board of Directors. Alberding is President of the Joyce Foundation and a prominent leader in Chicago’s civic community. Alberding joins a Board composed of corporate, civic and education leaders working to ensure that every child in Chicago has access to a world-class public education. Directors pool their dollars, ideas and time with the belief that strategic investments can have a positive impact on the performance of Chicago’s district and charter public schools. “I am eager to join The Fund in its work to improve Chicago’s public schools by investing in the talented educators who lead them,” Alberding said. “I know the importance of strong leadership and look forward to working with The Fund to support principals across the city.” Alberding oversees the charitable distribution of $50 million annually from assets of $1 billion. Under her leadership, Joyce has gained national prominence with a grant portfolio rooted in the core belief that communities are stronger when they share benefits broadly. The Joyce Foundation supports public policy to advance racial equity and economic mobility for the next generation in the Great Lakes region.
