The Fund releases its eighth annual Principal Engagement Survey
Today, The Chicago Public Education Fund (The Fund) invited all principals from Chicago’s district and charter public schools to participate in its annual Principal Engagement Survey. As in previous years, the survey will track important metrics about principal satisfaction, professional development and retention for the 2020-21 school year. It also includes questions about recovering from and innovating during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund is continuing its partnership with the National Business Research Institute, Inc. (NBRI) for the seventh consecutive year to administer the survey.
“Chicago’s principals have led their school communities through incredible challenges this past school year. Their leadership has and will continue to be essential as we continue to serve young people during this challenging period,” said Heather Y. Anichini, Chief Executive Officer of The Fund. “We encourage all principals to take the principal engagement survey as Chicago maps its road to recovery from COVID-19. Understanding principals’ unique needs, challenges and attitudes will help organizations across the city, including ours, better support school leaders as they lead their communities.”
Since 2015, the survey has garnered an average response rate of 73%. The Fund aims to hear from all principals, every year.
The Chicago Principal Partnership, a cross-sector collaborative dedicated to attracting, supporting and keeping great principals citywide, publishes the results of the survey annually and shares them with Partnership members, including Chicago Public Schools (CPS). The survey report provides information on the Chicago principal experience and compares principal responses by school type, principal tenure and grade level served.
This fall, results of the 2020-21 survey will be available on ChicagoPrincipals.org.
