Designs for Change

Designs for Change (DFC) is a 30-year-old educational research and reform organization whose mission is to serve as a catalyst for major improvements in urban schools, particularly in Chicago. In collaboration with DFC, Local School Councils (LSCs) learned how to make the best principal selections for their particular school, conduct annual principal evaluations and make contract renewal decisions that drive continuous school improvement. 

Impact

• 170 LSCs received direct assistance in principal selection.
• Additionally, more than 780 LSC members received an introductory workshop on principal evaluation, retention and selection.
• Materials produced recently shared with new CPS leadership.
