Cheyane Bligen
As the Senior Communications Associate, Cheyane manages internal and external communications. She is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, overseeing social channels, and elevating the stories of educators.
Cheyane came to The Fund from Teach For America Greater Chicago-Northwest Indiana, where she supported four functions: community partnerships, marketing and communications, public funding, and public policy.
Born and raised in the low country, Cheyane attended elementary through high school in Charleston, South Carolina. From a young age, her mother instilled in her the power of education. She earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of South Carolina. After earning her bachelor’s, Cheyane relocated to Chicago, Illinois, to pursue her Master of Public Policy and Administration at Northwestern University.Â
Cheyane is passionate about educational equity, food accessibility, and combatting homelessness in her community. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, exploring Chicago’s many neighborhoods, and spending time outdoors.
